With 25 years of experience in mass media: radio, television and press, a group of experts in communication: journalists, publicists, cinematographers, and television producers, with the leadership of Vida Amor De Paz, television personality, and President of Fundacion del Bosque Tropical FBT and Tropical Rainforest TRF, have created a  new television station focusing on the Environment. PLANETA VERDE TELEVISION-PVT will begin broadcasting in the months of may and June of 2005 via cable, and furthermore, as it counts with full  programming,  it will broadcast throughout Central America through a Satellite, expanding itself in the long term to the entire American Continent.

To begin with, PVT shall be sharing its programming with a series of international television stations which will distribute the best of its programs to more than 35 countries.

The topics of PVT are directed exclusively to the environment, natural resources and socio-cultural topics. Its objective is to broadcast, inform, motivate and educate. Our goal is to create programming that may raise awareness and values in the Central American population. This task should eventually expand to the American Continent Hispanic to teach the relationship and responsibilty, we as human beings, have with the environment. The idea is to help create a new environmental culture for  the rational use of the natural resources, as well as the sustainable development of the communities, promoting with this, a change of thought and conduct.

SOME SAMPLE SEGMENTS, PROGRAMS AND SERIES TO BE PRODUCED BY PVT:

“Sinergía en la Mañana” (Synergy in the morning)

This is the moment in the morning where we get all sorts of environmental ‘tips’ to get the started. This is a live show where we can get the images of people in the streets and their way they perceive various critical environmental issues.  In this segment, we may even show some parenting advise to get them and their kids on the right track to care for their planet and how to get involved in ecological activities with their children.

“Ecolovisión” (Vision of Ecology)

Children's and youth shows with educational, environmental and scientific themes. The message is “Children Saving the Planet”.  This Series looks at plants and animals seen by the point of view of a child,  giving interesting information from the youngsters towards themselves and/or their parents.

“Héroes Ambientales” (Environmental Heroes)

This segment will portray the life of environmental heroes and the way they have dedicated a lifetime to the cause. It will include documentaries profiling institutions and community leaders that are doing cutting edge work towards the environmental cause of corporations that are at the forefront of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

“Video-Paraíso” (Video Paradise)

This segment promotes various ecotourism places and projects narrated through beautiful women and men presenters, who show how tourism should respect the ways of life of the communities living in those regions, and ecotourism projects carried out by communities and other projects of sustainable development which have raised their quality of living.

En Vivo” (Live)

This segment will walk along the streets live, gathering opinions from ordinary people on various environmental topics, their problems and viable solutions, such as water shortage, contaminated water, sewage, etc. For instance, it will also use a blimp connected to a satellite to capture live images of forest fires, liberation of turtles, smuggling of wood on boarder lines, and monitoring of specific projects of various kinds doing it from the sky but live. It will capture the everyday life of people living in various places and will follow the way they dispose of their garbage, for example, or how to live in sustainable development. It will also capture sunsets and sunrises from beautiful spots, including unreachable places that only a blimp with its high resolution cameras can reach and will visit beautiful places unheard of in the middle of the jungles.

“Raíces” (Roots)

This segment highlights pluriculturality and interculturality among indigenous groups and the rest of the population. It will portray and stress the importance of reducing discrimination and helping everybody be treated with justice and equality in a democratic atmosphere. It will highlight the respect the indigenous have for their Mother Earth, and how their ancestors dealt in harmony and respect with the environment. It will show how this is still possible in our times. It will portray traditions, and the history of our ancestors. It will show a mix between new appropriate technology and the indigenous ways.

“Misterios al Descubierto” (Mysteries Uncovered)

This segment will uncover the various myths and give scientific understanding to the viewers. It will blot out superstition and place reason instead. It will visit archeological places, never visited before, or give descriptions or information never given before. It will show projects that have been successfully achieved in many regions, with sustainable development. It will show how enterprises may enhance their earnings with social corporate responsibility. It will unveil the many secrets that may expand the freedom of the individual and help him be more successful, more knowledgeable, and a better participant of his /her society.

“Uniendo Culturas” (Uniting Cultures)

Many Embassies will be able to participate in this segment, showing their appropriate and clean technology in various documentaries. It will also show the differences and similarities of various cultures and how we can bring about the best of each of them in our daily experience. It will have invitees from the international community to discuss elements of the documentaries.

“Corrientes de Cambio” ( Change Currents)

This series deals with water, air, climate change, and energy. It gives the background from what has been done in the past, what is being done in the present and what should be done in the future to bring about change and development from the point of view of people who want to improve and raise their quality of living individually and of their communities.

Headline News provided by  the Mesoamerican office of IUCN. PVT takes the news that come up, editing video on top for transmission.

A weekly News Environmental program to begin with, hoping to achieve a daily service, using correspondents from  Latin America or Video Resource Centers of TVE stationed in various countries and projecting the most important information published via internet by IUCN Mesoamerica.

A series produced a network of 16 countries through Television Trust for the Environment of London (TVE) with the participation of our Organization. In this series, you may find innovative ideas that have raised the quality of living of communities, or friendly technology with the environment that has helped businessmen make more money.
